The overall strategy and approach to future development across the Maidstone Borough area has been established by the Local Plan Review which was adopted by the Council in March 2024, following a robust process of debate and scrutiny via an independent ‘Examination in Public’. The preparation of the SPD was a requirement of adopted Policy LPRSP4(B).

No I do not agree. You can’t conjure up employment just because you’re building 5000 homes

The SPD takes forward the requirements of Policy LPRSP4(A) of the Local Plan Review which established that the development should aim to provide for as close to 5,000 new jobs as feasible and viable
Future planning applications will need to consider and address all issues and requirements.
Appendix C of the SPD sets out the anticipated planning application requirements which includes the need for an ""Employment & Economic Strategy"" to establish a strategy to consider commercial opportunities and business sectors in more detail.

The question is irrelevant as the development should not go ahead. Network Rail have already said there will be no new station.

The SPD takes forward the requirements of Policy LPRSP4(A) of the Local Plan Review which established the necessary scope of infrastructure, including the need for a railway station as part of Phase 1, as set out in Figure 19.
The delivery of a new station will be a matter that future developers and planning applications will need to address, through engagement with other stakeholders.
Network Rail have been consulted as part of the preparation of the SPD.
