Q10: Do you agree with the principles & guidance for "Blue Infrastructure"?

Representation ID: 106

Received: 17/11/2025

Respondent: Rob Merryweather

Representation Summary:

Negative impacts on property should be bourne by new properties, where the impact can be reflected in the purchase price and therfore bourne by the developers, over existing properties, where the impact is bourne by current residents. In this way, the council policy will put the interests of residents ahead of the profits of developers. Without this change, the council policy will put the profits of developers ahead of the interests of residents. I believe this is counter to the stated role of an elected council.

Our response:

Objection noted.
The SPD sets out guidelines and principles to require that wastewater treatment facilities must be appropriately located, having particular regard to the protection of amenity of neighbouring uses including housing so as to not negatively impact on new or existing residential properties, including ensuring appropriate buffers and other mitigation is put in place. The requirements are intended to protect all residents and properties and avoid negative impacts.
