Q12: Do you agree with the principles & guidance for "Minerals"?
Representation ID: 47

Respondent: Robert Brett & Sons
Aggregates, and in particular soft building sand, are a vital part of the construction industry, key to building and growing the UK economy.
In order to contribute to meeting the Government’s commitment to building 1.5 million new homes over this Parliamentary term, equating to over 300,000 per year, it is vital that allocated mineral sites, such as the Chapel Farm in the KCC Minerals & Waste Local Plan are both safeguarded and supported.
Support noted.
The SPD sets out principles and guidelines relating to Minerals (6.4) including the need for proposals to reflect the position as set in the most up to date Kent Mineral Plan, and related to the phasing of existing and proposed quarrying operations on or adjacent to the site.

We are happy to support the HGS scheme on the basis that it is phased to allow all of the mineral to be extracted from the safeguarded Chapel Farm site first.
