This letter is a response to Maidstone Borough Council's statutory consultation on the Heathlands Garden Settlement Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). Homes England is responding in its role as a promoter of Heathlands.
The Heathlands Garden Settlement allocation (LPR SP4(A) requires Maidstone Borough Council (in their role as Local Planning Authority (LPA) 'to work with the promoter to produce an agreed Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) to masterplan and facilitate the site's delivery'.
Homes England and their consultant team has worked closely with Maidstone Borough Council's Strategic Planning team and wider statutory consultees in the production of a robust technical evidence base which sits behind, and informs, the content of the emerging SPD.
Homes England supports the approach to, and the principles of, the SPD and believes it to form a positive basis for shaping and guiding the next stages in the planning process for Heathlands.
