Q17: Please set out any changes that you think should be made to the principles & guidance for "Movement & Connectivity".

Representation ID: 716

Received: 15/12/2025

Respondent: Susan Lobeck-Hawes

Representation Summary:

This is one of the most major visible and catastrophic changes to Bredhurst. Will you knock down the existing bridge ? The new M2 road linking theĀ  Lidsign community houses , to the M2- junction 4 - must be build before the houses ?!? Otherwise the whole area will be at a standstill?? This is basic common sense? Please advise and when is all this work taking place - it must be before you build houses - madness to consider any other route !!
To accompany earlier email , regards to the new bridge to be built-
Hen will the old bridge be removed ? When will the new bridge be built - long before the new houses - otherwise this is absolute nonsense- traffic pollution crashes noise upset compensation

Our response:

Comment noted.
Figure 31 relating to "Land South of M2 Junction 4" provides an illustration of how this area will connect up to a new bridge over the M2 although officers agree that the diagram in the Transport Annex (figure 5.3) which also shows the relationship to the current road layout should be included.. Section 7 of the SPD sets out the approach to phasing which follows that established in Local Plan Policy LPRSP4(b) which confirms the spur being opening in phase 2 (2033-2038) with potential utilisation of Maidstone Road Bridge and the new bridge expected to be completed in the latter part of this phase, subject to need.
