Representation ID: 721

Received: 15/12/2025

Representation Summary:

Lidsing SPD ‘Sustainable Design: Climate Change’ section - we ask for modified some wording of the SPD please to help ensure alignment with the National Standards for Sustainable Drainage published by the Government in June 2025. In particular, please could the wording below be added to Sustainable Design: Climate Change section that follows on from paragraph 6.10.7:

(s) …in alignment with the National Standards for Sustainable Drainage

We also ask for more integration of these standards within the SPD, in particular the ‘Strategic Landscape and SuDS Framework’ paragraphs that follow from 6.11.6 onwards.

Our response:

Comment noted.
Officers agree that the guiding principles for water management and supporting text can be strengthened by reference to ensuring the SuDs are designed in accordance with national standards for Sustainable Drainage Systems.

Paragraphs 7.4.4 – 7.4.9 - in our review of this SPD, we note the bespoke arrangements to fund infrastructure for the Lidsing development. As SuDS can include green space and mitigate flooding, they can be funded through CIL. Any need for additional funding to support effective SuDS for the new Lidsing development and surrounding areas could also be considered to comply with the tests set out in paragraph 7.4.9.
