New searchI am writing to formally object to the proposed Gypsy and Traveller site on Water Lane, Bearsted. My primary concern relates to the significant impact the development would have on local traffic conditions. Water Lane already experiences considerable congestion, particularly during peak times. The road is narrow, frequently subject to delays, and is not designed to accommodate increased vehicle movements. In addition, Water Lane is prone to regular flooding, which further restricts safe access and already causes disruption to traffic flow. Introducing additional traffic associated with the proposed site would significantly exacerbate these existing problems, increasing the risk of delays, vehicle damage, and safety hazards for road users and pedestrians alike. In addition to traffic concerns, I believe the proposed site would be out of keeping with the character and setting of the surrounding area. Water Lane is part of a predominantly quiet residential community that is already under pressure from ongoing development. Introducing a site of this nature would place additional strain on local infrastructure and amenities, and would not represent a sympathetic or appropriate use of this location. While I recognise that Maidstone Borough Council must balance a range of housing needs and statutory obligations, I respectfully request that the Council reconsider this proposal and explore alternative locations that would have a lesser impact on highway safety, flood risk, local infrastructure, and the existing residential community. Thank you for taking the time to consider my objection.
