New searchPolicy Ref C4S (017) - The Brishings - I do not consider the above site to be suitable for the following reasons: Lack of infrastructure - Green Lane is a single track rural lane running parallel to the site on one side, providing no suitable access to it. The adjoining Shepherds Way is often restricted to a single lane for its entire length due to resident parking. Lack of local amenities - schools and shops can only be accessed by transport and public transport is very limited. Also, the local GP surgery has no capacity to take on new patients. Risk of flooding as identified in the UK Flood Risk Map. Any development of this site would increase surface water on adjoining roads. Damage to the local environment - The Brishings is a greenfield site, historically used for agricultural purposes. It also provides a habitat for wildlife. Both are essential to maintain in light of recent and ongoing housing developments in the area. Light and noise pollution. Detrimental impact on the character of the area including several nearby listed buildings.
